Online Networking: Timesaver or Timewaster?
Isn't it common knowledge that they all drive expensive foreign cars, are members of exclusive country clubs and wear expensive suits? I mean after all... anyone who is raking in $150...$250...$350...or even $500 per hour has got to be loaded. Don't you think? The reality is most lawyers end up dead broke. Surprised? I'm not. Especially when you consider the fact that most attorneys have no clue when it comes to making money, managing it and keeping it. Why?Because, no one ever taught them how. They all went to college. .. then graduated from law school and headed directly into a law firm to practice law. This seems pretty straightforward, doesn't it? I mean, it's kind of what you would expect them to doThe challenge is... that in those 7-years of advanced education (4 in college and 3 in law school) they were never taught how to look out for themselves financially. Instead they were learning how to help you and me. This is great for us...but in the process they short-changed themselves and their families. Most lawyers are working long hours (55+ per week), often including weekends. And... The reality of those high hourly rates they charge is this...very little of those rates trickle down to them- like maybe 10-15%. The majority goes to paying overhead. Which even is a tiny solo practice can be high when you include the costs of rent, malpractice insurance, phones, computers and software, advertising, secretarial, research library, paralegals, accounting, billing, and collections... and it goes on and on.On top of all that, you can throw in clients who are completely unappreciative of their lawyer's work and then to add insult to injury. ..lawyers deal with clients don't pay their bills on time or at all. Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse to practice as a lawyer...you have to deal with the endless issue of cash flow or lack of it.Is it any wonder that all lawyers don't end up dead broke? If you think you may be headed down this road...Do Something about it today! It doesn't have to be this way.

Marlon Sanders: The Hero In The Internet Marketing World

It seems the numbers game is popular not only with the accountancy profession, but with just about anyone running a website who is interested in more sales from anywhere in the world. The internet has proved to be the great leveller, even a grandmother I know has made hundreds of thousands of dollars just from publishing a couple of e-books, business of that magnitude is not now confined to those people with large sums of investment capital, teams of accountants, planners, secretaries, swanky offices etc. Anyone, even you, can make money regularly on the internet, just aim for a goal and 'go for it!' The costs of setting up have never been lower, the ease of making web pages has never been easier, ( I make my web pages in Notepad, which is on every Windows computer), and the potential audience for your web pages has never been larger. So what are you waiting for? The sheer mountain of information available through e-books on any subject and especially on setting up a business on the internet would take you a lifetime to read through, so just be selective and read only what you need to know about and get started in that business. Businesspeople who have 'been there-done that', have written up an enormous amount of e-books to pass on their knowledge and experience, pitfalls to avoid, how to spend your advertising dollars, and just about everything else you need to know about to ensure success. So profit from their experience, avoid the pitfalls, do what they say you should do, and you should be in a profitable business in no time, just the way they did it. No large sums of investment are needed, just time and dedication. If you provide an excellent service that benefits all your clients, they will recommend you to their friends,if on the other hand you want to be a 'scammer' and a 'fly by night' operator determined to 'rip-off' as many people as possible, you will come to grief. You will find your web hosting account rapidly terminated, your e-mail account likewise, and your name plastered all over the forums and newsgroups. You get out of life exactly what you put in. There are still mysteries about life we still don't understand and this is the reason we come to grief, but on the other hand, if you work for the benefit of others, this 'mystery of life', for want of a better name, cuts in and helps us along, we go with the flow and good things start to happen. I could tell you of many experiences I have had, both good and bad, which I have learnt a great deal from, but space precludes that, maybe one day. All right, you win, I will tell you of one particular incident more recently and then move on with this article. I carried a St.Christopher medallion on a gold chain in my wallet for six years, given to me by the wife of a good friend overseas, 'it will keep you safe' she said. I received a new wallet for a Christmas present and changed everything in the old wallet into the new one, except the St. Christopher medallion, it was looking a bit 'worse for wear' and I decided to put it in the cupboard. That day I lost my mobile phone! For two whole days I felt a loss which can only be described as a 'bereavement'. I had lost touch with the network I was attached to night and day, seven days a week, I felt bereft. I did not know if someone was trying to ring me, whether something was urgent I had to know about, my sense of loss was total. Was this to do with the St. Christopher medallion? I thought surely not. That was on the Tuesday, by Thursday morning I had decided to put that 'good luck' St. Christopher medallion into my new wallet. My mobile phone turned up via a 'good samaritan' who would take no money as a reward whatsoever. I was never more pleased to see my mobile phone. So what happened here? Was it something to do with the St. Christopher medallion? Was it because I had 'bad thoughts' that it was the 'worse for wear' so discard it as inconsequential? I don't know the answer. There have been too many such incidents in my life it would take volumes to relate the details. We don't know these 'mysteries of life' but one thing is important -keep a positive outlook to everything and everyone and good things will happen for you. It's difficult to visualize how many people that are out there who can log on to your website. It's also difficult to understand what kinds of people they are, what background and education they have had. Why they are logging on to your new site. What do they expect to see, or learn, or buy? How will they benefit from visiting your site? Will they buy a good product, or learn something, or get some amusement or entertainment from it? Here are some figures to think about:- 1. Adults aged 65 and over are the fastest growing age group taking to the internet, according to Nielsen/Netratings. The number of adults from around the world over 65 who use the internet has grown by 25% over the past twelve months, with 9.6 million now accessing the web. The number of female seniors has seen the most significent growth, jumping 30%. Male seniors jumped by 20%. 2. 44% of Western European internet users shopped online during 2003. (Jupiter Research). 3. 55% of the population of Spain are expected to be using Broadband internet by the end of this year. (Jupiter Research). 4. 50% of the U.S. population expect to be using Broadband internet by 2008.(Jupiter Research)> 5. 1 in 5 internet users download music according to Nielsen. 6. Online shoppers in Australia for DVDs. is now the fifth fastest growing online purchase category after travel, concert tickets, accomodation, and books, growing by 30% (ACNielsen Consult). 7. 22% of U.S. consumers shop online at work. 8. 67% of 12 to 24 year olds online in the U.S. have downloaded music from the net. 9. 40 million Americans have downloaded music from the net, equivalent to one-fifth of the U.S. It's not hard to see that the net is a hive of activity and people are paying for things they want, music in particular. Content has not been a thing that people have been keen to pay for except sex sites, one of the most successful ecommerce businesses of all time. Newspapers online charge for content with some success, but a survey by Jupiter Media Metrix claims that 70% of adult online users don't see why they should pay for content. The researchers project that revenues will only grow to $US5.8 billion by 2006 for online content! Of that revenue the highest earners will be 'Audio and Video Entertainment and Games'. This survey also shows that 42% of net users grudgingly expect that over time they will have to pay for content on the net. So, which way will you go? Will your site be a subscription only site charging a monthly fee to access the content? Look at the history of one such subscription only site called Salon Magazine. They changed to a subscription only site and over the first six months only signed up 25,000 users, out of 3.8 million users per month who used the site previously. Statistics are a wonderful thing as many accountants know too well. Will you be guided by all the statistics available through all the research companies out there when you build your website? Yes, the numbers game attracts a lot of attention has I stated at the beginning of this article. Always remember though, that all these users in these stats are only human beings and want, need, and desire pretty much the same things you do, and set up your website accordingly. There are enough humans out there to visit your website, whatever you decide to do. Oh, and did I mention? The worlds population of humans is now 3 BILLION
Known as the King of Fruits, it emits an overpoweringly pungent smell that lingers on for days, hence it’s an item that’s banned in hotels and airplanes. To those unaccustomed to its strong smell, it’s something they wouldn’t touch with a six-foot pole. But in Asia, this is an all-time local favorite. As much as I enjoy the fruit, you’d never find me volunteering to go out and buy it from the many roadside shacks that spring up each ‘durian’ season. The reason is simple - carrying a trunkload of ‘durians’ home would mean that my car would end up stinking for days afterwards. And a leftover pungent smell trapped in an air-conditioned car can be the worst thing ever, let me tell you!! So last year, when I found out that there’s a guy who would actually deliver ‘durians’ fresh from his orchard to my doorstep, I was delighted. Now the ‘Durian Man’ has figured out there are lots of others like me out there who’d rather go into ‘durian withdrawal’ than drive around in a stinky car, and he’s found his niche doing home deliveries. So what is the ‘Durian Man’ doing for me, his customer? He’s providing me the convenience of not having to go out there in the heat and the traffic to buy ‘durians’ and stink up my car for something that I’m not even 100% sure will taste good. Other ‘durian’ sellers have found their niche in selling the fruit without its spiky skin. If you’ve ever tried to pry open a ‘durian’ yourself, you’ll know it’s best to leave this thorny task to the professionals. Some sellers offer to open the fruits as a free service to their customers, others sell the fruit pre-packaged in plastic boxes. Although plastic boxes cannot technically hold in the smell and prevent it from stinking up your car, they’re a much better option to punctured palms and bleeding fingers. Lesson #1: Listen to your customers’ problems. If there’s anything you can do to make their lives easier, to save them time and effort, you may well have found your niche. Build your business around it, and you have a surefire winner. But the ‘Durian Man’ doesn’t stop there. He handpicks the ‘durians’ for me (since I’m completely clueless at distinguishing a good fruit from an inferior one) and delivers only the best fruits. Not only that, he backs each fruit with his personal guarantee that it will be of the best quality - succulent and tasty. If any of his fruits turns out to be substandard, all I have to do is to call him, and he’ll replace those fruits on my next order, plus throw in a couple more fruit as a goodwill gesture. Lesson #2: By backing his products with a personal guarantee, he is building the customer’s trust in him, his products and indeed his business. Trust is the biggest factor in ensuring repeat business. It puts the customer completely at ease doing business with someone they know will deliver quality. And frankly, I’d rather do business with someone I know and trust than with a total stranger, wouldn’t you? Fast forward to this week. He calls me to say, “Hey, listen, I’m driving into the city from my orchard, and I’ve got a batch of the freshest ‘durians’ this season. Really, these are the best so far. Want me to stop by your house with some?" Would you pass up an offer like that? It’s been over six months since I last ordered from him, and frankly with the kind of schedule I’m running, ‘durians’ have to absolutely be the last thing on my mind. But hearing that ‘durians’ are in season again and knowing I don’t have to lift a finger to go buy them was tempting. Without hesitation, I ordered a batch to be delivered the same afternoon! Lesson #3: Find a reason to contact your customers, keep them in the know, remind them that you’re still around offering the same great customer service, and there’s your repeat customer right there ;o). The ‘Durian Man’’s business tactics are not new but they work like a charm. Think about how you can adapt his tactics into your own business. Copyright 2004 Kit Lum. The benefits from Credit card debt consolidation, 'Credit card debt consolidation' seems to be the most talked-about term in the world of credit cards. It's true that credit cards have been very useful and convenient for us and we, in fact, treat the credit cards as a necessity. However, with every good you have evil too. In the world of credit cards, 'Credit card debt' is that evil and 'Credit card debt consolidation' is often regarded as a medicine for treating credit card debt. Anyone who has read any newspaper articles on 'Credit card debt' would already know what credit card debt consolidation is. However, just for the benefit of others, credit card debt consolidation, in simple terms, is the process of consolidating debt which you hold on various high APR credit cards onto just one low APR credit card. Thus, the main benefit of credit card debt consolidation is realised in terms of APR reduction (and hence reduction in credit card debt growth rate). This is touted as the most important benefit (and sometimes the sole benefit) from credit card debt consolidation. However, credit card debt consolidation comes with few more benefits as well. Some of these credit card debt consolidation benefits are widely publicised by the credit card suppliers and some not so much:1.Initial APR: As mentioned above, lower APR is the biggest benefit from credit card debt consolidation. Since credit card debt consolidation is used by credit card suppliers as a tool to attract consumers, they generally offer a 0% APR for a initial period of 6-9 months of you joining their credit card debt consolidation programme i. e. first few months after you get the new credit card.2.Standard APR: Lower standard APR (i.e. the long term APR) is the other important benefit from credit card debt consolidation. Though not all credit card suppliers offer a lower standard APR with credit card debt consolidation some do design credit card debt consolidation programmes with good standard APR. These credit card debt consolidation programmes offer a trade-off between initial and standard APR rates.3.0% on purchases: This is another common benefit from credit card debt consolidation. The 0% interest (or some lower percentage) on purchases is offered as an incentive for credit card debt consolidation. This credit card debt consolidation benefit is again applicable only for a short initial period. 4.Easy management: This credit card debt consolidation benefit is not as discussed as others. However, one benefit of credit card debt consolidation (from multiple to single credit card) is the fact that you need to track and manage a lesser number of credit cards. 5.Other benefits: The credit card debt consolidation exercise might bring you some more benefits in terms of rebates, discounts and reward points (especially if you move to a co-branded card as part of credit card debt consolidation).
No to Labor Law Violations

No, no! I’m not talking about “how to make money by selling underwear’s on the Internet" I’m talking about Jeff Paul, the super marketing guru of 90’s who shouted “How I Earn $4,000 a Day Sitting at My Kitchen Table in My Underwear?" But it’s a GONE story now. What happened to Jeff Paul, one of the most successful students of “Dan Kennedy’s" the father of Marketing? If you were a subscriber of “Entrepreneur Success" or “Business Opportunities" in the early 98, you might have noticed Jeff Paul’s catchy ads, depicting him sitting at his kitchen and in his underwear talking over the telephone and counting money and ads like “How I earn $4000 a day sitting at my kitchen table in my underwear?" Jeff himself declared he makes 1000’s of dollars a day before his lunch! Those catchy, interesting and funny ads were run continuously for about 3 years in the early 98. But those ads were suddenly disappeared; Jeff Paul suddenly sunk somewhere in deep marketing competition. When I started exploring information about Jeff Paul, I heard/read many interesting stories. Much information is not available about Jeff’s childhood or about his parents. Jeff attended the University of Illinois where he studied anthropology. So I’m not sure of what direction he wanted to take in his life. He ended up dropping out of college and worked for his father's retail store in Jackson Mississippi. He had problems with working for his father’s retail store and he was totally unhappy with his decision. So Jeff decided that taking night school classes in accounting might lead him to a better career and income. After a year of classes he moved back to Chicago and purchased an accounting franchise for $15,000 and met his business partner. That was the first chapter of “Joint Venture" in Jeff’s life!Unfortunately the accounting business didn't last long because Jeff's partner ended up stealing the company coffers. And the worst part is Jeff had naively co-signed an SBA loan which was being called due and payable in full, a whopping $204,000! That’s how destiny played in Jeff’s life.Jeff was down on his luck and about to give up on his dream of financial independence. He found an opportunity to meet and work with Dan Kennedy. (Dan Kennedy is highest paid marketing consultant in America. Dan will give you at least 100 new ideas to improve your current business if you meet him!) Jeff had signed up for one of Dan Kennedy's seminars as a last bastion of hope.Shortly thereafter, Jeff wrote his first successful direct marketing training course for Financial Planners and accountants. His company was called “Profit Plan Systems". Jeff is more widely known for his mail order success course, How I Earn $4,000 a Day Sitting At My Kitchen Table in My Underwear. Maybe you can still buy this particular course from classified ads and display ads in “Biz Magazines" like Business Opportunities and Entrepreneur. Jeff’s ads was selling teaser version of his course for 20 bucks. It was really a glorified sales letter masquerading as a product. Anyway, from there you could order the complete course for about 200 bucks!Although “How I Earn $4,000 a Day Sitting at My Kitchen Table in My Underwear" does have some excellent gems of timeless direct marketing wisdom (like "Sell them what they want. Give them what they need."), you are probably better served by getting your marketing education elsewhere! Why? The main reason is the quality of the course presentation. Basically the course was a re-purposed version of the marketing system he sold to Financial Planners. Ninety percent of the material was the same. This course was somewhat disorganized, was thrown together in a random manner! Pages were crooked (2nd & 3rd generation photocopies!) and had missing pages. The information presentation was disjointed. For example, it was hard to keep from getting distracted by the poor quality of the page copies.Jeff probably sold resale rights of his marketing course to other marketers who are simply photocopying seminar book pages, popping them in a 3 ring binder; making bad dupes of cassette tapes; placing national ads; selling it as a COURSE! The same “Copycat Marketing" formula!Whatsoever, Jeff Paul is widely respected for his direct marketing expertise. And he had great mentor like Dan Kennedy. Dan used to introduce Jeff as his favorite and most successful students in BIG Seminars!Jeff actually produced some NO BS great manuals, training videos, inspirations tapes etc. Some of Jeff's books were actually pretty well written. Paul thinks that the internet is not a good place to market products because the average person online is young and not financially qualified to buy much... but all that is constantly changing or changed now a days. Some marketers said Jeff Paul’s course is great and it really helped them. But the only problem is that like many great systems, there are now far too many people doing what he teaches. So the system and techniques are saturated. Obviously Jeff was a very talented student because Dan took him under his wing and turned him into an advertising giant Now what I believe is Jeff Paul’s Marketing System must be great. But the problem is that he told the whole world about it a long time ago. And now I heard he has several hundred students doing the exact same thing he does. And these students are now teaching and selling his old material to others by writing the same basic type of course they bought from Jeff Paul. You can actually buy Jeff’s products in e-bay auctions at discounted rates. Will it work now? Don’t ask me!Like I said, Jeff and his course are great, but just outdated in my opinion. I searched for Jeff’s products reviews at Amazon. But Amazon’s database contains no information about Jeff’s stuffs. The fun part is Amazon has recommended me to buy Dan Kennedy’s stuffs!I recently heard that Mr. Fire Yanik Silver had an interview with Jeff Paul. I did not find more info on this interview. I think Jeff Paul would have been a success either way just because he has true talent and dedication to his work within himself. Like many other marketing teachers, Jeff Paul is obsessed with marketing. Anyway finally I wish all the best to Jeff Paul and his kitchen table, underwear marketing!Copyright 2004 Mufad Pac

Credit Options for People with Low or No Credit. Credit cards are surprisingly easy to acquire, regardless of whether or not you have a good credit rating. There are always options available to you no matter what your credit history. Some credit cards even come directly through the mail with a card already fixed and you just have to call to confirm it. These credit cards are designed to help you build a credit history. However, if you are not careful, you could end up getting yourself into a lot of debt! It is incredibly easy to find these credit cards. A simple search on the internet will bring up dozens of companies offering their cards for poor credit ratings. The thing with these kinds of cards, however, is that they often have a higher interest rate than any other card. While this is not always the case, it is still good to make sure you shop around before applying for one. Often, the credit cards you are offered are also Gold or Platinum cards, so you really do have to be careful with what you use them for! How to apply and what is required. It is extremely easy to apply for a credit card. If you do a search online, you will literally find hundreds if not thousands, of websites offering credit cards to people with poor credit ratings. All you have to do then is visit the sites, then you just need to fill in a simple online form. All you really need to fill in are details about where you live, your social security number, your date of birth and other personal details. It is very rare that a credit card company for people with poor credit will want to see a credit report. However, even if they do, they often do not really take much notice of it. If applying online, it usually only takes a couple of minutes to find out if you are accepted. You may need to call somebody from the company or they may do it for you just to confirm that you have applied, etc. They also will usually go though more details with you to see if you further fit the bill for one of their credit cards. You can also apply through the mail since credit card offers are often sent in junk mail. With these, they usually include a short form or ask you to call a special number to apply. Overall, it really will not take long at all to do and you should have your new card within a week. How Does A Credit Score Determine A Poor Credit Rating? A credit score is usually between 300 and 850 with 600 to 700 classed as average. A higher score tells lenders that you are a trustworthy borrower and you are often more likely to get credit. A poor credit rating will be below 400 and this stops a lot of companies from giving you credit. However, there are companies set up especially for people with no credit history or poor credit history and those generally do not bother too much about it. Every time you forget to pay a bill on time or if you have outstanding debt, it goes on your credit rating. Points are taken off and as mentioned earlier, if it reaches below 400 it tells potential companies that you are unreliable and they might have problems with you paying any money back to them. Overall, if you do want a credit card and you have poor credit, it is not too much of a problem to get one. However, the interest rates are often higher and you really do have to watch that you pay the minimum each month when you spend with it. If you are not careful, you will end up with an even worse credit report than you had before. However, if you are sensible, it can help to build up your credit rating. You just have to shop around first and do your research in order to find the right card for you.
